Abstract

Atrial flutter with 1:1 atrioventricular response may be spontaneous or drug-induced and may occur in persons with or without known organic heart disease. The response is often caused by sympathetic discharge associated with exertion or excitement. The presence of wide QRS complexes due to aberrant ventricular conduction complicates the diagnosis.
