Abstract

The ill patient in the early stages of pregnancy who does not know she is pregnant or who conceals her pregnancy poses a serious problem. The physician may unwittingly institute diagnostic or therapeutic procedures that are contraindicated in pregnancy. Such a mistake may be prevented by making the pregnancy test a part of the routine workup J in women of childbearing age.
