Abstract

Surgical help is available for those patients with severe primary hyperhidrosis who do not benefit from simple measures. Sympathectomy was first used in such cases four decades ago and has a high rate of success. A newer operation is excision of a small area of skin in the axilla to relieve axillary hyperhidrosis.
