Abstract

Atopic allergy is caused by immediate hypersensitivity, mediated by immunoglobulin E (IgE). When allergen and IgE combine, inflammatory tissue changes take place and produce the allergic symptoms. Skin tests have traditionally been the major means of diagnosis, with allergens that are inhaled providing the most reliabl used as test materials.
