Abstract
Toxic epidermal necrolysis is an acute inflammation clinically resembling scalded skin. Most cases in infants and young children appear to be caused by a toxin produced by certain staphylococcal organisms. In adults, however, many precipitating factors have been implicated. The condition is rapidly fatal if untreated.
