Pages 165-168 | Published online: 07 Jul 2016

Abstract

A puncture that has not caused serious damage to internal structures can be treated in the office. Control of bleeding is the first priority, followed by exploration, repair, irrigation, and drainage. Foot puncture is a particular problem, since infection can easily spread throughout the foot, and special measures are needed.
