Pathologic hypofunction of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system

Abstract

A fairly typical presenting picture of hypoaldosteronism is emerging. Persistent hyperkalemia and tendencies to serious urinary sodium loss and hypotension are usual features. Prominent among the underlying defects is hyporeninemia. Mineralocorticoid replacement therapy is effective.
