Myocardial Ischemia from Coronary Arterial Spasm

Abstract

Coronary arterial spasm, not atherosclerosis, is the cause of anginal pain in some patients. Proof of a causal role requires angiographic demonstration of spasm during an attack of pain, with electrocardiographic changes corresponding to the vessel affected, and disappearance with relief of angina.
