Abstract
The nutrition standards known as the RDA have been designed to maintain good nutrition in practically all healthy persons. They do not cover special needs arising from prolonged illness or deficiencies of specific nutrients. They are, however, useful guides when the prescription of vitamin preparations is indicated.
