Abstract

Physical examination and a lateral abdominal roentgenogram usually provide enough information for a diagnosis of abdominal aortic aneurysm. Preoperative arteriography is not routinely necessary. Even patients with large aneurysms who represent marginal risks for vascular repair may be guided through aneurysmectomy with reasonable safety if preoperative and postoperative care is meticulous.
