Office Treatment of Strain

Abstract

After an acute strain, normal range of motion and strength generally will be regained with conservative treatment, such as rest, application of cold and compression, and gentle exercise. Chronic strain usually responds to rest of the affected area and oral or local administration of an anti-inflammatory agent. Surgery may be required, however, for either type of injury.
