Gonorrhea: Unmasking Asymptomatic or Atypical Infection

Pages 205-207 | Published online: 07 Jul 2016

Abstract

Diagnosing gonorrhea in women can be problematic because of the large number of asymptomatic carriers of the disease. Therefore, all sexually active women should be periodically examined for evidence of the disease. Physicians should be aware also of the increase in infections in sites such as the anal canal and oropharynx.
