Abstract

Many of the immunologic abnormalities seen in patients with atopic dermatitis may be explained by beta-adrenergic blockade. On this basis, treatment directed toward increasing the local level of intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate should be beneficial. Recent success with caffeine creams supports this view.
