The importance of significance and the significance of importance

Abstract

It is statistically significant; therefore, it must be true. It is statistically significant; therefore, it must be important. It is statistically significant; therefore, it must be clinically useful. You cannot argue with statistical significance. Or can you? This article is designed to demonstrate that the critical reader can and should argue with statistical significance.
