“I like this review and discussion” is what the family physician who reviewed this paper said. The authors have emphasized that basal cell epithelioma is the most frequently found skin malignancy. Diagnosis is often complicated by the multiplicity of clinical forms. Treatment can be accomplished by a number of methods, including curettage with electrodesiccation, scalpel excision, cryosurgery, radiation therapy, and chemosurgery. Drs Browder and Tomsick point out that although results with any given method are uniformly excellent, judgment must be exercised in choosing the appropriate method for an individual patient. The success of treatment hinges on local eradication rather than on prevention of spread.
