The increased attention given to the aging process in recent years has not often extended to systematic study of age-related endocrine changes. As Dr Morley points out in this review, the multiplicity of these changes warrants adjustments in the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to the elderly. The major endocrine conditions seen are glandular failures. Atypical and nonspecific presentations abound, and diagnosis and therapy may be further clouded by the tendency toward multiple drug use in this age-group.

A family physician who reviewed this article said, “Excellent overview—made me interested in reading some of the references for further information to help my treatment of geriatric patients in my practice.”
