In the first part of this two-part article (page 179), Dr Parker described the clinical features and the incidence of Hemophilus influenzae respiratory infection in adults. Such infection can be serious, and prompt treatment is imperative. Treatment options, particularly for infections caused by ampicillin-resistant strains of the microorganism, are considered in this part A noncredit self-assessment test is included at the end of the article.
