Abstract
It is my pleasure to welcome as this month's guest editorialist a long-time friend and colleague, Dr Frank Mann. Dr Mann's field, experimental pathology, is a fascinating one, and he has contributed many valuable and thought-provoking ideas over a period of many years. We are, indeed, honored to have him join us in these pages, as he speculates about how the clotting mechanism might be intensified in circumstances where that would be desirable.
