Pregnancy and the puerperium are periods of stress that occasionally precipitate or exacerbate significant emotional disorder. Therefore, as prophylaxis, most prenatal care should include measures to aid psychosocial adjustment to pregnancy. What techniques can you use to give the patient a therapeutic sense of support?
