Traditional Chinese medicine invokes philosophic concepts that are essentially unknown to the Western world. in part 1 of this two-part presentation (page 60), Dr Steiner explored various facets of acupuncture from the standpoint of Western knowledge and understanding. in part 2 he attempts to further Westerners' understanding of acupuncture by explaining briefly the concepts of Yin-Yang, the meridian theory of Chi, and the Five Phases. Western physicians who can accept the cultural assumptions that underlie traditional Chinese medicine will find a few surprises as their misconceptions about acupuncture are dispelled.
