Surgery may help if medication fails

Not only is the cause of Meniere's disease poorly understood by nonspecialists and otolaryngologists alike, but the outcome of its various medical and surgical treatments is often unsuccessful. In this article, Dr Goldenberg briefly reviews the pathophysiology and diagnosis of Meniere's disease and presents his case for use of the endolymphatic shunt as an effective surgical approach in patients with debilitating disease.
