Estrogen replacement therapy—boon or bane?

After many years as a subject of debate, estrogen therapy is now established as efficacious in preserving bone density and preventing osteoporosis. The risk attendant on estrogen therapy is limited to its association with an increased incidence of endometrial cancer. In Dr Cali's view, this risk, while real, has been magnified. In addition, when estrogen treatment is augmented with a progestogen, the potential for development of endometrial cancer is reduced appreciably.
