Broadening the interface between medicine and behavioral science

Behavioral medicine is based on the assumption that illness can best be understood from combined biomedical and psychosocial perspectives. The past 15 years constitutes a period of major growth and development in the field of behavioral medicine. Dr Upper and his colleagues discuss the impact of this growth on the Lahey Clinic's department of behavioral medicine and psychiatry and comment on four major trends in the current practice of behavioral medicine.
