Chest pain is one of the most common—and potentially serious—complaints the physician is called upon to evaluate. When angina pectoris is the suspected cause, diagnosis can often be based on the clinical examination and ECG. At times, however, additional cardiovascular testing is necessary and the physician must decide which tests will be most useful and practical. In this article, Dr Shub discusses diagnostic strategies that will help the physician who treats patients with chest pain.
