Although the majority of pregnancies are low-risk, with normal labor and delivery. some pregnancies are at risk for complications and require close surveillance by the physician. Dr Field provides guidelines for identifying these high-risk pregnancies and describes the most helpful procedures for assessment of fetal well-being—ultrasonography and electronic monitoring of fetal heart rate.
