Monitoring of infant development and counseling of parents regarding that development are extremely important but often ignored elements of well-child care. The KIDS developmental chart, which Dr Holmes designed and describes here, is a simple, practical, and reliable screening tool to detect developmental delay. It is useful also as a basis for communicating with parents regarding a child's progress.
