In maxillofacial injuries, the quality of final reconstruction often depends on the initial management. Thus, to primary care physicians who may be the first to treat such injuries, Dr Boyne's practical guidelines for evaluation and optimal early care should be of special interest. Particularly in communities where secondary and tertiary care is not readily available, this article should have, as one reviewer stated, “an eager audience.”
