Children with developmental disorders receive better care today than ever before. Teams of specialists are providing in-depth evaluations, and mainstreaming is allowing equal access to educational programs. Dr Starrett's discussion of presenting signs and symptoms of developmental disorders will help the primary care physician to identify children for whom referral is expedient.
