Exercise-induced asthma has been recognized for generations and is found to some degree in 75% to 90% of asthmatic patients. Recent laboratory studies have clarified the relationships between the symptoms and the type, severity, and duration of exercise. In addition to exploring possible mechanisms of action, Dr Smith describes therapy that allows asthmatics to participate fully in exercise.
