Subdural hematoma remains a frequent diagnostic challenge, particularly in the elderly. Since no pathognomonic signs or symptoms or clusters of findings are available to aid in diagnosis, clinicians must maintain a high index of suspicion. Dr Black reports the results of a review of 88 cases of subdural hematoma, which confirm the variety of symptoms and indicate the most reliable diagnostic tools.
