Early Alzheimer's disease or dementia from another cause?

Dementia is often characterized by physical findings, particularly when a physical process such as myxedema or parkinsonism is the cause. Although the physical examination does not permit quantification of the dementia, it provides clues to the cause and treatment. In Alzheimer's disease, however, a generally unremarkable physical examination is the rule.
