“Sex doesn't make you live longer, it only makes you want to.” This anonymous quip sets the stage, not the tone, for this discussion of sex and aging. According to Dr Labby, the sex life of the older man or woman is—or should be—no laughing matter. The needs for sexual expression and intimacy can extend well into old age, as can sexual capacity. Dr Labby stresses the supportive role that physicians can—and should—play in preserving or improving this most valued aspect of human life.
