Bacterial infection of joint spaces remains a serious condition, despite the availability of potent antimicrobial agents. Tb effect the early appropriate treatment that is the key to successful management, the clinician needs current information on what types of organisms are most commonly implicated and on how the patient population has changed in recent years. The authors present an update on these and other aspects of the common problem of septic arthritis and provide tabular summaries of recommended initial treatment for quick reference.
