The importance of good glucose control

Some insulin-dependent diabetics are fortunate: They require only minimal changes in life-style and only one insulin injection daily to achieve nearly normal blood glucose levels. Most, however, require a more complicated, individualized insulin regimen. As knowledge about diabetes has increased, new, improved methods of insulin delivery and monitoring have become available. Dr McMurry discusses these developments and outlines the current approach to insulin therapy, which is aimed at achieving good glucose control.
