Abstract
Concerns about practicing cost-effectively while preserving the highest quality of medicine have become a dominant issue in the lives of US physicians today. This editorial is a spin-off of a talk on cost-effectiveness and quality in medicine that Dr Ross Egger, an emeritus member of the Family Practice Council of POSTGRADUATE MEDICINE, gives each year to new residents at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Indiana, where he is director of the Family Practice Residency.—R.B.H.
