Infections associated with marine activities are commonplace in Hawaii. They include otitis externa, wound infections, gastroenteritis, and miscellaneous tissue infections. The authors provide an overview of the nature of these marine-acquired infections, including organisms commonly involved, and summarize treatment techniques for the primary care physician who may not encounter these infections regularly.
