Fibromyalgia and menopause

Neither diagnosis nor treatment of the pain and tenderness of fibromyalgia has been successfully defined. However, because patients are predominantly women and the onset of disease is usually around the time of menopause, estrogen deficit has been proposed as an associated factor. In this article, the authors describe their research on the relationships between hormonal changes and muscle pain, stress, and somatic expression of the emotional state.
