Esophageal spasm

A possible cause of atypical chest pain

Esophageal spasm is a much easier diagnosis for the patient with atypical chest pain to accept than coronary artery disease. However, it is not always an easy diagnosis to make. In this article, Dr Crozier and coauthors discuss diagnostic categories and criteria, use of the acid-perfusion technique, and types of treatment that may bring relief.
