Although infection with Leptospira interrogans is uncommon in humans, the authors were confronted with four cases, all the result of ingestion of contaminated creek water during a kayaking trip. Dr Jevon and his colleagues describe the symptoms, signs, and clues uncovered during history taking that revealed the diagnosis. They also summarize treatment and prevention through public health measures.
