Women with recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI) find that the condition affects many aspects of their life and causes considerable morbidity and expense. Recent advances in the understanding of the pathogenesis of recurrent UTI have led to new diagnostic techniques, classification methods, and antimicrobial therapies. In this article Dr Schaeffer outlines a simple and improved program of management for these women.
