Even with the best-thought-out treatment plan, the chances for success are limited if a patient cannot be counted on to comply with the regimen. Lack of compliance is a problem familiar to clinicians, but another, less-known phenomenon—overcompliance—can also be problematic. Dr Boza and colleagues discuss various causes for these patient behaviors and suggest some potential solutions.
