Frail elderly patients often present with no specific complaints but with failure to perform one or more important functions of daily living. This nonspecificity can be frustrating for practitioners. As an aid to differential diagnosis, Drs Goodenough and Lutz provide lists of possible causes of critical functional impairments and a method for using the lists.
