Millions of Americans suffer from arthritis. The constant pain of this potentially disabling disease drives many patients to try any remedy that promises relief. Thus, arthritis quackery flourishes. In this article, Dr Wasner explains why arthritis patients are especially vulnerable to use of unproven remedies and suggests how physicians can deal with this problem. The overall goal, he contends, is improving the patient-physician relationship.
