Overwhelming infections in trauma

Open wounds caused by trauma can provide an ideal environment for contamination by bacteria, potentially resulting in gas infections. With proper management, such infections can be prevented or controlled. Drawing from extensive experience in treating clostridial and nonclostridial infections, the author of this article describes their pathogenesis and proper steps in therapy.
