Fungal diseases are assuming increasing importance in clinical medicine, and knowledge of the antifungal drugs with respect to spectrum of activity and toxicity is essential. The choice of antifungal treatment and duration of therapy are largely determined by the extent of infection and the immunologic status of the patient. Dr McNabb summarizes the uses of antifungal agents and gives therapeutic guidelines for specific mycoses.
