Avoiding the pitfalls in primary care orthopedics

Many primary care physicians avoid ambulatory orthopedics because they fear the increased professional liability. However, for the well-trained practitioner who is familiar with the pitfalls that can lead to malpractice suits, this fear need not be a deterrent to treating fractures and dislocations, according to Drs Haines and Griffin. In this article they point out many of the pitfalls most likely to be encountered.
