Controlling cholesterol levels through diet

Studies have convincingly shown that elevated blood cholesterol values are related causally to atherosclerosis. Consequently, both the medical community and the public have become increasingly concerned with measures to help control hypercholesterolemia. In this practical article, Drs Stone and Van Horn focus on dietary changes that can help patients achieve desired cholesterol levels. Guidelines from the National Cholesterol Education Program are included as well as special diets and a three-minute dietary assessment.
