Elderly patients fear hip fractures because of the significant associated morbidity and mortality. While preventive measures may be instituted in early life, there are other ways to avoid fractures in older patients. Dr Epstein explores the impact of this injury on the elderly and suggests ways to avoid either the fracture itself or the complications that can follow.
