Endoscopic therapy for gastrointestinal bleeding

Endoscopy not only is extremely useful in visualizing bleeding lesions in the upper gastrointestinal tract but appears to be an effective and safe method of treating such lesions. This article describes various thermal and nonthermal endoscopic techniques to control bleeding. Patients who are poor surgical candidates would especially benefit from this therapeutic alternative.
