A patient receiving oxygen therapy by traditional methods is often housebound as well as uncomfortable. Dr Heimlich describes the Micro-Trach—a method of delivering oxygen transtracheally that relieves dyspnea and allows normal speech, productive cough, and restoration of appetite. Eliminating the waste of oxygen through the mouth and nose and delivering it directly to the lungs make the use of oxygen so efficient that the supply needed is small enough to be carried, thus restoring the patient's mobility and freedom.
